Catalog operations should be reviewable.
CatalogSteward helps Shopify retailers and agencies turn inconsistent supplier data into a controlled, repeatable workflow.
Why this product exists
Supplier catalogs rarely arrive in Shopify's preferred shape. One vendor calls a SKU an item number; another separates style, colour, and size; another changes columns without warning. The difficult part is not producing one transformed file. It is knowing what changed, preserving the merchant's rules, and preventing a plausible-looking mistake from reaching a live store.
CatalogSteward starts with a private browser diagnostic and grows into a managed supplier recipe: explicit mappings, approved product grouping, pricing and inventory rules, validation, and a reviewable change set.
Who operates CatalogSteward
CatalogSteward is a product built and operated by Homie Lab Inc., a Toronto technology company working across focused software, hardware, and open-source tools. Homie Lab Inc. is the contracting entity responsible for the CatalogSteward website and services.
CatalogSteward is not currently a separately incorporated company. Describing it as a product of Homie Lab Inc. keeps ownership, contracting, privacy responsibility, and support clear.
How we work
- Inspect before changing. A source file and representative sample come before a complete import.
- Make uncertainty visible. Ambiguous mappings are reviewed instead of silently guessed.
- Keep the merchant in control. Deliverables and proposed changes are reviewable before they affect Shopify.
- Tell the truth about data. The free diagnostic runs in the browser; managed work uses only files deliberately provided to us.
