Homie Lab Inc. operates CatalogSteward and is accountable for the personal information described in this policy.
- The free CSV/XLSX diagnostic reads your file locally in your browser.
- Catalog file contents are not uploaded or retained when you use that diagnostic.
- We receive information you choose to send by email or provide for managed services.
- Cloudflare processes ordinary technical request data to deliver and protect the website.
- We do not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural advertising.
1. Scope and accountability
This Privacy Policy explains how Homie Lab Inc. (Homie Lab, we, us, or our) handles information through catalogsteward.com, the free CatalogSteward diagnostic, support communications, and managed services. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at support@catalogsteward.com.
2. Information we collect
Browser-based diagnostic
The diagnostic uses browser code to read a CSV or XLSX file and generate findings on your device. We do not receive the file contents, filenames, diagnostic results, or downloaded reports through that feature. The diagnostic does not connect to Shopify.
Website request data
When you visit the website, our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may process technical information such as IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or device details, network information, and security signals. This information is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain security.
Support and business communications
If you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your name, email address, company, store URL, message, and attachments. Please do not send passwords, private API keys, payment card data, or information that is not needed for your request.
Managed services
If you ask us to inspect or process a supplier catalog, we may receive catalog data, business rules, sample Shopify exports, and related operational information that you deliberately provide. The applicable order, proposal, or statement of work may describe additional processing and delivery arrangements.
3. How we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot CatalogSteward;
- respond to support, sales, privacy, billing, and legal inquiries;
- assess, quote, and deliver managed catalog work;
- detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- maintain business, tax, accounting, and contractual records; and
- meet applicable legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use supplier catalog content to train a public artificial-intelligence model.
4. Consent and lawful handling
We collect information with your knowledge and consent where required, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. You may withdraw consent to optional processing by contacting us, subject to legal, security, billing, and contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing a requested service.
5. Service providers and disclosure
We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate the business, including Cloudflare for website delivery, security, DNS, and email routing; email and storage providers used to receive communications and deliver managed work; and professional advisers such as accountants or legal counsel. Providers may process information outside your province or country, where it may be subject to local law.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights or security, in connection with a business transaction, or with your direction or consent. We do not permit service providers to use customer information for their own unrelated purposes.
6. Retention
Website security and operational data is retained only as long as reasonably needed for delivery, diagnosis, security, and legal obligations, subject to provider settings. Support communications and managed-service records are retained for as long as needed to handle the request, perform the agreement, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably required.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of information, including access controls, encrypted transport, managed edge security, and limiting collection. No system is completely secure. Contact us promptly if you believe information associated with CatalogSteward has been compromised.
8. Cookies and analytics
CatalogSteward does not currently use advertising cookies, behavioural advertising, or a third-party behavioural analytics product. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary technologies and security signals to deliver and protect the website. If our practices materially change, we will update this policy and provide consent controls where required.
9. Access, correction, and privacy requests
You may ask about our handling of your personal information or request access or correction by emailing support@catalogsteward.com. We may need to verify your identity. Applicable law may permit or require us to refuse part of a request; if so, we will explain the reason where permitted.
10. Children
CatalogSteward is a business service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the service.
11. External services
The website may link to Shopify, Homie Lab, Cloudflare, or other third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. CatalogSteward is not affiliated with Shopify Inc.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised version here and change the effective date. Material changes will be communicated through a reasonable additional notice when required.
